    Salem Family Resources is seeking nominations for its third annual Children's Champion Award.

    Children¹s Champions are recognized for their significant work toward bettering the lives of children in the greater Salem area in the areas of early learning, family wellness and early development.

    Previous Children's Champion Award winners were Salem residents Sheila Murray, Nancy D'Agostino and Richard O'Shaughnessy. Nominees must live or work in the greater Salem area, including the towns of Windham, Pelham, Atkinson, or Hampstead to be considered.

    Know a Champion for Children? Nominate them for this award to be presented at our annual Tot to Teen Fashion Show and Tea fundraiser, Saturday, April 22, 2012 at Searles Castle in Windham, NH.

    Area businesses can help strengthen families with young children in Greater Salem by sponsoring the third annual Salem Family Resources Tot to Teen Fashion Show and Tea.

    The event takes place Sunday, April 22, 1-3 pm at Searles Castle in Windham.

    Sure to delight, the show will feature two dozen local children ranging from toddler to teen. New this year is a “Glam Gram” segment featuring prominent residents nominated by their grandchildren. A nomination form will be posted soon.

    Kohl's Department Store in Salem will again provide fashions for this show.

    The organization, which offers a wide range of programs and resources for families with young children, will also present its 2012 Children’s Champion Award to a local child advocate. Past winners have included Richard O’Shaughnessy, Nancy D’Agostino and Sheila Murray.  Click here for a nomination form.

    Cindy JuryCindy Jury, Salem Family Resources-Success by 6 Executive Director, was recently credentialed by the State Department of Health & Human Services as a NH Early Childhood Master Professional. Jury was also named Director and Lead Teacher at The Learning Cooperative, a new parent co-op preschool operated by Salem Family Resources starting this fall.

    Credentialing indicates a professional level of growth and recognizes the recipient’s qualifications and commitment to early childhood. It requires a minimum of a Masters degree in the field, plus five years’ experience in Early Childhood Education and demonstrated experience training other adults in the field. Much of this work has been accomplished through Jury’s career as director at Salem Family Resources.

    The credentials meet the requirements of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), whose standards serve as the framework for high quality early care and education.

    Jury has a long history of teaching and administration in the early childhood education field. She has served as Executive Director of Salem Family Resources-Success By 6 since its inception in1994.

    Jury holds NH teaching certifications in both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. She earned her BS in Education and Early Childhood Education from Lesley College (now Lesley University) and her Masters of Education at Cambridge College.
