Presented by: Megg Thompson, MEd, ECMPWT, Certified Behavior Consultant in Association with The Fitzgerald Institute of Lifelong Learning. Megg Thompson, a former Kindergarten teacher of ten years, is a Certified Behavior Consultant and Family Coach with a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education.

Workshop Description: Children's challenging behaviors are often the result of a mismatch of temperament between adults and children.  How can we be more aware of this mismatch and what can be done about it?  Understanding our own behavior and a child’s development is critical to ensuring that every child we relate to and interact with is visible, valued and supported in their own way. Together, we will discover the layers of possibilities waiting to unfold and the strengths each child brings to this world. These will be revealed through a research-based model of temperament that honors the differences among us.

Core Knowledge Area: "Promoting Child Growth and Development"

Professional Development Certificates for 2 hours will be awarded.

"Reframing Challenging Behavior" Strategies to promote pro-social behavior and enhance social emotional skill-building in the early childhood setting.

Workshop Description: The ability of young children to manage their emotions and behaviors and to make meaningful friendships is an important prerequisite for school readiness and academic success. Socially competent children are also more academically successful. Research indicates that poor social skills are a strong predictor of academic failure. Understanding the Pyramid Model for promoting social/emotional competence will guide teachers to turn-around-thinking and identify strategies to teach important skills for positive outcomes for children.

Core Knowledge Areas: "Teaching and Learning" & "Promoting Child Growth and Development"

Professional Development Certificates for 2 hours will be awarded.
